Antipolo City, Rizal — Backed by the generosity of the Dios Mabalos Po Foundation (DMPF), the Girl Scouts of the Pasay City Council brought smiles and meaningful connections to children with special needs on August 10, 2025, during the “Tulong Bata Project” of the Specially Trained Action Group (S.T.A.G.), part of Operation Big Brother, held at Doña Amparo Resort (40 Garcia St., Bankers Village, Brgy. Dela Paz, Antipolo).
The outreach activity, which ran from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, aimed to foster joy, inclusion, and compassion for children from the Autism Society Philippines – Antipolo Chapter and St. Catherine Special Learning Center of Antipolo, Inc. Six Girl Scouts — Maria Julianna Lacuesta, Chloe Penaredondo, Pauline Ampaya, Catherine Pagarigan, Kristel Penaredondo, and Rijhina Tiname Narvas — actively participated, engaging the children through games, bonding activities, and a pool party.
Also lending her time and energy was volunteer teacher Tita Marietta Castrence from Kalayaan National High School. While S.T.A.G. spearheaded the event, the Girl Scouts played an essential role in assisting the children and distributing refreshments.
The participation of the Pasay Girl Scouts was further strengthened through the efforts of their Council Executive Officer-in-Charge, Tita Marina M. Magbago (Tita Nina), who secured sponsorships in advance. Through her coordination, DMPF generously provided 12 boxes of chocolate drinks, which the Girl Scouts brought and shared with the children, adding a sweet and refreshing highlight to the day.
This outreach was organized by KAMP Pagkakaisa Volunteers, a dedicated group running a camp for children with special needs. Guided by their motto “We Keep the Fire Burning,” they have long worked to provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for these children, promoting understanding and acceptance in the community.
Despite the physical demands of the day, the volunteers left with full hearts and a renewed commitment to service. The Tulong Bata Project underscored the value of volunteerism and the power of cooperation among civic groups in creating lasting, positive change for children with special needs.
The Girl Scouts of Pasay are now preparing to extend their support to KAMP Pagkakaisa Volunteers’ next major initiative, also under Operation Big Brother, scheduled for the coming months.
